![]() Pipeline Missions Tracks Choose from any of the following tracks and indicate your choice on the registration page. We will design the week to cater to your specific interests. By the end of your trip you will walk away with a thorough understanding of the approach to take as you continue to engage with the fatherless generation in your community.Hurricane Relief Teams The Pipeline Missions are part of the greater Somebody Cares America (SCA) Network. SCA and their partners were among the first crisis responders during the recent Hurricane's Katrina and Rita. Their immediate relief effort saved many lives that could have been taken in the aftermath of these devastating storms, as many found themselves without homes, electricity, access to money, food and water. The relief effort continues and has moved from Crisis response to Recovery and Rebuilding and many volunteers are still needed. The Pipeline STMs are networked with SCA to orientate your team to the relief process underway and to connect you with those along the Gulf Coast who are committed to rebuilding the lives devastated by these tragedies. (www.somebodycares.org) Skate Camp Ministry (june 26-30) only available during this week. Our five day Skate Camps are a great way for those who are skilled skateboarders and Inline skaters to participate in a skater coaching program. During these five days you will work closely with young skaters of all levels teaching them the dynamics of skateboarding. In addition to that you will be given the opportunity to share some of the faith choices you have made that will challenge these young skaters in their faith and demonstrate the importance of including Jesus in their life strategy. The week ends with a skate competition where each of the participants are given the opportunity to show what they have learned and compete against their friends. Music Video Production One of the advantages of running a music venue is the number of bands that want to play your venue. All have similar goals; to develop their skills and strive for Rock Stardom. Recognizing this, our team has begun to produce music videos. With the advances in technology and understanding, you will learn methods you can use to produce high quality music videos that will give you the opportunity to connect and influence some of the bands in your area. You will learn pre-production, production and post-production skills that will help you step onto the set with confidence as you direct any future video project.
Community Service Projects At the core of our strategy is a firm commitment to community relevance and service. During your time in Humble you will be actively involved in a project adopted on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce. Whatever their need is we will commit ourselves to demonstrating the love of Jesus by completing this project with excellence. By serving in this way we will wash the feet of our community and show that the church is not afraid to meet them in their area of greatest need.
Coffee Shop/Music Venue Ministry There is no better place to connect and build relationships in our post-modern culture than in the coffee shop. Fuel Cyber Cafe is a coffee shop turned music venue serving the community. During your mission you will be trained in all aspects of this ministry from being a barista, building a successful database of bands in your community, working cover charge, and booking successful shows. You wil have the oppportunity to connect with our local crew and share with them the importance your faith plays in your life. Depending on the shows booked during your mission you will be exposed to the emo, hardcore, metal, punk or rock cultures and you will be given the opportunity to serve this rockstar generation. (www.fuelcybercafe.com) Learn to Build a Half-pipe Our skate ministry was launched when we built a halfpipe behind our church for some of the local skaters who had no safe place to skate. We were not prepared for what happened next. That small halfpipe became one of the hottest skate spots in town. Recognizing the demand we took the next step and built a full skatepark. Since the park opened we have seen over 4700 of Houstons most dedicated skaters and their families visit our park. We will show you the ropes of an effective skatepark ministry and how to turn your park into an effective tool for discipleship. And NO you dont have to be able to skate. (www.humbleskatepark.com) Pre-Conversion Discipleship The philosophy behind this approach to discipleship starts with the realization that Jesus' journey with the disciples began long before they had a concrete understanding of who the Messiah was and what he was asking them to do. Somewhere along the way, the coin dropped and one by one they came to the revelation that Jesus was infact the Christ. We have called this approach to ministry pre-conversion discipleship. We believe that we are on a journey of trust with this generation and as that trust grows, the truths that have changed our lives begin to change their lives. We strive to create an environment where they feel like they belong before we challenge them about what they should believe. Chain Reaction Week (july 23-29) The Chain Reaction movement (www.chainreaction.be) is committed to mobilizing this generation to serve their communities with an emphasis on Random Acts of Kindness. During this week, the Chain Reaction Team will be in Humble training local churches in the powerful lifestyle of random acts. Chain Reaction week is a special emphasis trip, not all pipeline missions tracks are available during this week. |
